Traditional animation is at a revolutionary stage at present that rivals anyone we've seen before. Traditional animation is very much alive and well today. Traditonal animation is more prevalent than its ever been before but is often augmented or hidden by technology. Regarding the death of animation allow me digress for a moment here. All versions of Flipbook operate in 'trial mode' until you unlock them with the license code.

Just a thought.įlipbook does indeed have a free trial. But I guess you could buy Crazy Talk and add that to the toolbox too. What you really want is auto lip sync and then use that as a starting point and tweak as needed. That too is going to be time consuming with this product as it doesn't include any lip sync tools to make it easier other then the voice waveform. I would recommend getting it if that is your budget cap.Īlso, there is the issue of lip sync. Anime Studio uses bones to accomplish the same thing for about the same price as Flip Book. You get the same results quicker, cheeper, and a heck of a lot faster. I don't want to draw and re-draw over and over again like in traditional animation. I prefer using keyframes and tweening myself. But OTOH if you want to draw frame-by-frame than this product may appeal to you. It is just too expensive and we now have the technology to drastically reduce the time and effort to get to final product. I don't think any Studio does traditional animation anymore. The killing point for this product is traditional animation. It appeals to the "traditional" animator much like the bicycle appeals to modern transportation. I don't think too many Studios are going to be using this product. What it counts on is the demo reel suckering you in and getting your money.

Yeah, the reason why it doesn't have a free trial is because no one would buy it. Jason Ryan is about to launch his video training course and its highly recommended. I recommend looking at the tutorial on Digicel's site by Jason Ryan. The trial has limitations such as watermarks but will let you get a feel for its use. It should be noted Flipbook does have a trial. Pricing and information can be found here: Grab a pencil and paper and draw yourself a few real flipbooks to see if you have the patience. If you are just dabbling in animation/drawing Flipbook isn't the best choice. I believe this is the only option that comes with a CD. Since purchasing would be harder to justify at $1,196.

$399 however puts it well out of the range of a lot of young users.įlipbook Pro Complete normally sells for $1,196 but for awhile can be purchased for $599.

It opens the limits on frames and layers available in Flipbook lite as well. I recommend it for anyone just starting out.įlipbook Studio is closer to what a traditional animator is going to need and I'd say the minimum requirement. With the limited frames you can use set to 24 Flipbook Lite is ideal doing short tests. The discounted cost is $39 is pretty steep when compared to a years worth of A:M. It would let the potential animator get started though. If someone where serious about hand drawn animation Flipbook Lite isn't going to get the job done. As its use is necessary for teaching and critiquing the fundamentals of traditional animation Flipbook has found a place on my laptop as well. Flipbook is good for roughing out and testing shots and sequences in a quick and useful way. Adding Flipbook to the mix adds that capablity. The drawing element is an essential part of the process of animation and that is missing from A:M at present. They have almost all the animation tools in A:M already with one important exception. For the most part A:M Users won't need this product.
